The anti-Müllerian hormone test, also called the AMH test, is a blood test to measure a woman's ovarian reserve.AMH is a type of glycoprotein secreted by the developing cells of the ovaries in women. The AMH test is a clear source of data that detects conditions such as egg deficiency or early menopause.
For whom the AMH test is performed?
For patients whose ovarian reserve is determined before IVF treatment.
For patients with suspected menopause.
Patients with suspected ovarian cancer.
It is used in patients suspected of having polycystic ovarian syndrome.
The AMH test, which can be performed on any day of the cycle, is checked using a blood sample.
What should the AMH level be?
On average, the normal values of the AMH test carried out before the age of 38 are between 2.6 - 6.8 ng/ml. In people with polycystic ovaries, the AMH test value is above 6.8 ng/ml. If the AMH test values are low, it means that the number of eggs in the woman has decreased. If the AMH test is below 1, it means that you need to hurry. In such a case, it is recommended that expectant mothers try to become mothers without wasting time. Egg freezing is a preferred method to protect the likelihood of pregnancy.
Why should an AMH test be carried out?
The result of the AMH test also determines the type of IVF treatment or the use of medication. Since each treatment is individual, the tests to be performed are of great importance.
