The fallopian tubes are the tubes that come out from both sides of the uterus and are connected to the ovaries. Every month, an egg from the right and left ovary passes through these tubes and enters the uterus. If there is an obstruction or dysfunction in the fallopian tubes, this is called tubal factor. To diagnose tubal obstruction, which is one of the most common causes of infertility, a uterine film, namely HSG (hysterosapingography), is performed.
What are the symptoms of tubal blockage?
Generally, many women are not aware that their fallopian tubes are blocked until they present for infertility. For some women, menstrual pain is too severe or they present to the doctor with groin pain. Fallopian tube blockage can also be seen in patients with endometriosis problems or some infectious diseases.
How is a tubal occlusion treated?
After the diagnosis of a fallopian tube blockage with uterine film, the laparoscopy method is preferred for treatment. The fallopian tubes, which we call blocked in uterine film, are fluid-filled and swollen. Before IVF treatment, it is recommended to remove the tube laparoscopically or to separate the tube from the uterus. In this way, the pregnancy rate is increased even further.
